Today AVG gave me a warning about a file and I had AVG remove it. Later when I restarted my computer it gave me an error about dwm.exe and I was unable to access any webpages. After using my roommates computer I discovered this a most likely a virus. I downloaded combofix.exe as directed in order to correct the problem. Once I ran the program though it told me that I would have to uninstall avg. When I went to uninstall avg it gave me an error and said it couldn't remove it. I then went into safe mode and tried to remove it there but it gave me the same error. So now I'm at a point where I'm not sure what to do. Am I going to have to format and reinstall xp? Or is there something else I can do?
Thanks
Wiedz

DWM.exe is only available in Windows Vista and Windows 7.
dwm.exe controls Aero, and Aero is not available in Windows XP.
