My internal dvdrw cdrw is on the fritz is a plextor px 716A ata drive. I have been gettng the amber blinking code 2x for several months now. The code means that the reader can't align or focus on the cds. I am toying with getting an external dvd rw and cd rw for it as I have 2 computers and would be nice if the other one goes out. My system is intel core duo cpu E4500 2.20 ghz 2.20ghz 2.00 mb ram 32 bit os windows vista home premium
service pack 2. The hard drive has 88.2 gb free out of 149 gb I am on a fixed budget and am looking for the cheapest fix to this dilema. The main reason I need to do this is that my widows vista is going to crash and I have no way to reload it. Has been acting very wierd for a couple months it won't stay logged in to a profile and takes a reboot to get it to come back from the black screen where you can choose restart last good config.any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks newbie here
