Hello,

I have a 2003 R2 server and I have to write my first script for it. I need a script that runs once a week and grabs a folder from another computer and copies it to a folder on the server for back-up purposes. I also need it to overwrite the old file. Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks in advance,

Maureen

Why not utilize some sort of backup software like Veritas?

My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.

You can either write a batch file to do this or check out AutoIT.

I want to write a batch file but do not know how to. That is why I am looking for help.

All I want to do is say copy computername\folder to server\folder and have it run on its own weekly.

I tend to like to use VBScript for this sort of thing.
Here is a script for moving files.
Here is a script for copying files.

To have the script run once a week, have the said script in your scheduled tasks to run once a week or whatever configuration you'd like.
