Samsung or Seagate Choosing a external hard drive

At my local computer shop they sell the Samsung 3.5inch 1TB which is the cheapest of all but i've read that there hard drive has a higher defect rate. The second cheapest is Seagate Desktop 1TB which i have one now and it is working fine. Should i trust Samsung's hard drive or go with the one i own and know the most?

this is by no means a pro review, but my advise would be to always go with what you know. if the price difference is nominal, im sure the peace of mind would be worth it to you. and with those external hard drives just make sure you keep a copy somewhere else just in case it does malfunction.

I have had very bad luck with samsung drives, no problems with seagate. Even if it would cost more money I would get the seagate, they make a quality product I can vouch for. Samsung may but every drive I have had of their's has failed me within 3 years.

I have a western digital 500 gb and it is great. Shop around, don't just go to one store. Also, I don't know if it is the same in Australia, but in America there are always deals in the sunday newspaper from sears and best buy and target, etc.

Thanks guys, the Seagate is $5 more expensive then the Samsung which i don't mind and i actually own the Seagate one myself which i am satisfied about, so Seagate it is.
