Hello.
For some reason, I cannot enable windows firewall. When I click on "Windows Firewall" in Control Panel, an error pops up.
It says, "Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall settings.".
What is the "unidentified problem"?

Hello dc3.
For some reason, when I put this command into the "Run" box: CMD /K NETSH FIREWALL RESET, the CMD pops out, and says, "The requested transport is not available".

I suspect, your computer may be infected.

Infection is a good possibility.

One other question. Are you by chance running a third party firewall or perhaps a security suite that contains a firewall?

Hi all.
My security softwares are Norton Internet Security and Malwarebytes. Norton has a firewall, but Malwarebytes doesn't. I can go to security-based websites. I full-scanned my computer with Norton and Malwarebytes, but they did not find any viruses. I disabled Norton Firewall, reboot, and still no luck. Should I reinstall Windows?

Try disabling the Norton firewall and then activate the Windows firewall.

Running Norton with the Windows firewall can produce conflicts between the two.

Norton will automatically disable Windows firewall, since there is no reason to run TWO firewalls. Not even recommended.

What Broni said.

Norton is very proprietary. Does`t play very well at all with any other security software from other companies.

Ok, so Norton blocked Windows Firewall?
I decided to reinstall Windows on 2011 because I suspect there are "buried" viruses out there, working silently  .

One firewall is really all you need. What you might want to consider is adding Malwarebytes and SUPERAntiSpyware to your arsenal. If you update these and run scans on a regular basis along with your anti virus and firewall you should be in good shape.

Ok, I'll try SuperAntiSpyware.
I saw good reviews from Cnet.com that Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware really works.
I'll try Malwarebytes + SuperAntiSpyware + Norton.

Edit:
I finally opened Windows Firewall Settings!
Here's what I did:
I downloaded Windows XP Service Pack 3 and install it on my computer. Rebooted.
And that's the simple way of enabling Windows Firewall for me.
