WiFi issues at home; fine everywhere else

Hi, I just joined the site after finding BleepingComputer forums helpful for removing some malware.

My issue is with my WiFi connection. It works fine everywhere except my home.

I take my laptop around to my office, clients' offices, public wifi, etc. Everywhere else, when I boot up the wifi connects almost immediately.
At home, when booting up or awaking from sleep, it can take up to a few minutes for the wifi to connect. I usually do the right click diagnose and repair a few times and/or manually switch off the wifi from the switch on the side of the computer. My two roommates have macs and they connect instantly to the same network.

I'm running a Dell M1330 (it was a gift) with Vista Home Premium.

I'd appreciate any help you can give. Also, I'm at work right now so I probably won't be able to perform any scans or post logs til about 6pm EST.

We need more details, does it just take a few minuets to connect or does it have a problem connecting at home? That is probably just an issue with the router. Does the home router have a password to connect? Does the one used at your work have a password to connect?

Do you use the windows software to connect do you have a seperate profile for each connection i.e home, clients offices, public if so set home to automatic and others to manual agree with computerxpds do need further details.

hey, I thought I subscribed to the thread but didn't get any email replies. Odd.

I'm using the windows software to connect but I don't have different profiles set up. All the networks I connect to either at home or work have passwords which are saved in the network connection settings.

At home, when I have trouble connecting I get the following message:

Network Diagnostics pinged the remote host but did not receive a response.

Thats an ipv6 address i believe are you sure you are sing that more likely to be ipv4 with a 192.xxx.xxx.xxx address you need to set up a profile for your home network connection for a start so when you click on your router input your network key if encryted and save network checkbox checked and start automatically checkbox checked if using windows software to connect.
