When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

log from Eset
C:\Documents and Settings\ERS Shop\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\15\310e48cf-3b618fe5 Java/TrojanDownloader.Agent.NAP trojan deleted - quarantined
C:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\13\65891f0d-1a43555f multiple threats deleted - quarantined
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntosreg.dll a variant of Win32/Kryptik.HTA trojan cleaned by deleting - quarantined

Not clear what was done, I think items were just quarantined.

This was good, a quarantine means tje file can no longer harm the PC. This is done over deleting in case the file was needed for the smooth operation of the system. How is it running now?

Also running questions on McAfee forum, they are saying I need to reset IE, which I did. No joy.
And go to add and remove programs, remove IE8, forcing system to reapply IE7 if I understand correct.
Something is still wrong with IE, sometimes when I click on icon to open IE to homepage, a second page open with a registry scanner; appears to be virus program display. I can click off this and continue with IE.
I am running SuperAntispyware again just for good measures. So far it has found tracking cookies. Still over an hour left in full scan.
McAfee still not able to connect to internet or correct website to download current Dat file. I wondered if firewalls could be blocking.

I think it may be best to just get a deep look here and have one of our analysts examine everything at once.

Please go here....
Preparation Guide ,do steps 6 - 9.

Create a DDS log and post it in the new topic explained in step 9,which is here Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs and not in this topic, thanks.
If Gmer won't run, skip it and move on.
Let me know if that went well.

What about first few steps? Backing up data, mainly. If I have a virus still and I back data up, would it be infected?

2 guidelines/rules when backing up

1) Backup all your important data files, pictures, music, work etc... and save it onto an external hard-drive. These files usually include .doc, .txt, .mp3, .jpg etc...
2) Do not backup any executables files or any window files. These include .exe/.scr/.htm/.html/.xml/.zip/.rar files as they may contain traces of malware. Also, .html or .htm files that are webpages should also be avoided.

I backed up a few files from laptop.
Downloaded defogger, ran and clicked disable
Next downloaded DDS, and ran. Black screen opened with text and scan would take no longer than 3 min. it has been over 15 now and no log?

Any idea?

I can not close DDS program, either xing out, right click and close nor windows task manager. Computer would not turn off, finally pushed power button until.

I restarted and seemed to be back to normal.

Do you mean ,no longer infcted --normal..

We can run OTL instead of DDS.
    1. Please download OTL from one of the following mirrors:
  • This is THE Mirror
    2. Save it to your desktop.
    3. Double click on the Posted Image icon on your desktop.
    4. Under the Custom Scan box paste this in
    netsvcs
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
    /md5start
    eventlog.dll
    scecli.dll
    netlogon.dll
    cngaudit.dll
    sceclt.dll
    ntelogon.dll
    logevent.dll
    iaStor.sys
    nvstor.sys
    atapi.sys
    IdeChnDr.sys
    viasraid.sys
    AGP440.sys
    vaxscsi.sys
    nvatabus.sys
    viamraid.sys
    nvata.sys
    nvgts.sys
    iastorv.sys
    ViPrt.sys
    eNetHook.dll
    ahcix86.sys
    KR10N.sys
    /md5stop
    %systemroot%\*. /mp /s
    CREATERESTOREPOINT

    5. Push the Quick Scan button.
    6. Two reports will open, copy and paste them in a reply here:
  • OTL.txt <-- Will be opened
  • Extra.txt <-- Will be minimized

If there are no more problems or signs of infection, you should Create a New Restore Point to prevent possible reinfection from an old one. Some of the malware you picked up could have been saved in System Restore. Since this is a protected directory your tools cannot access to delete these files, they sometimes can reinfect your system if you accidentally use an old restore point. Setting a new restore point AFTER cleaning your system will help prevent this and enable your computer to "roll-back" to a clean working state.

The easiest and safest way to do this is:
  • Go to Start ] Programs ] Accessories ] System Tools and click "System Restore".
  • Choose the radio button marked "Create a Restore Point" on the first screen then click "Next". Give the R.P. a name, then click "Create". The new point will be stamped with the current date and time. Keep a log of this so you can find it easily should you need to use System Restore.
  • Then use Disk Cleanup to remove all but the most recently created Restore Point.
  • Go to Start ] Run and type: Cleanmgr
  • Click "Ok". Disk Cleanup will scan your files for several minutes, then open.
  • Click the "More Options" tab, then click the "Clean up" button under System Restore.
  • Click Ok. You will be prompted with "Are you sure you want to delete all but the most recent restore point?"
  • Click Yes, then click Ok.
  • Click Yes again when prompted with "Are you sure you want to perform these actions?"
  • Disk Cleanup will remove the files and close automatically.
Vista Users can refer to these links: Create a New Restore Point and Disk Cleanup.

Tips to protect yourself against malware and reduce the potential for re-infection:Avoid gaming sites, pirated software, cracking tools, keygens, and peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing programs. They are a security risk which can make your computer susceptible to a smörgåsbord of malware infections, remote attacks, exposure of personal information, and identity theft. Many malicious worms and Trojans spread across P2P file sharing networks, gaming and underground sites. Users visiting such pages may see innocuous-looking banner ads containing code which can trigger pop-up ads and malicious Flash ads that install viruses, Trojans and spyware. Ads are a target for hackers because they offer a stealthy way to distribute malware to a wide range of Internet users. The best way to reduce the risk of infection is to avoid these types of web sites and not use any P2P applications. Read P2P Software User Advisories and Risks of File-Sharing Technology.

Keeping Autorun enabled on USB and other removable drives has become a significant security risk due to the increasing number of malware variants that can infect them and transfer the infection to your computer. To learn more about this risk, please read:

OK, if you are still infected you need to start the NEW topic here Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs and not in this topic, thanks.
You can attach therec also.. Also include the OTL log.

Let me know if that went well.

I am not sure if I am infected or not. McAfee still can not update. I am tempted to try and reload, if I can not reinstall MacAfee that will be sure sign. I have run all the programs recommended; Super, MBAM and Esetscan. Now showing clean scans; well accept for tracking cookies.
Still a virus changed something to block McAfee downloader from connecting back to the internet. If the virus responsible for changed setting was removed, should McAfee just start working? Or would setting have to be reset?

Based on the last scan (OTL) and logs posted are they OK?

Also I just noticed Windows update is not working.

We are not permitted to review the OTl .DDS or HJT logs here in AII. You could try turning off your firewall un and re instsllling Mcafee and turn the wall on. You have post those logs over there to be analyzed.

Hello,

Now that you have posted a log here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic359004.html you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a MRT Team member, nor should you ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show in the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.

From this point on the MRT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.

Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the MRT Team members are EXTREMELY busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the MRT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another MRT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.

Please be patient. It may take several days to get a response but your log will be reviewed and answered as soon as possible. I advise checking your topic once a day for responses as the e-mail notification system is unreliable.

To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic. Good luck with your log.
