Files Attachments Cannot attach files

When I attach files to my Yahoo Emails, the person receiving my email cannot open the attachment. There is no DOWNLOAD prompt with the attached file, only the REMOVE prompt. This is a new and recent issue.

Another problem with file attachment. Some files are MS Works 8.5 Word attachments. The text copies fine, but the pictures accompanying the text are missing.

Finally, can anyone help me to convert MS Works 8.5 with pictures to a Word file? I am breaking my fingers trying it with OpenOffice.
