BleepingComputer.com: Low Disk Space in my recovery drive

I keep getting a message on the bottom of my screen about low disk space in my recovery drive. I have 2.32 mb available in this drive. Is this important to have free disk space in. I'm running windows 7.

The only thing I can think of is, if you have an auto backup program running, it could be placing backup files there. If you can check the contents,(WindowsImageBackup) look for .bak files or ***/PC files (*** = computer name) My wife has the same issue with one of her externals. Look in control panel/backup and restore and see where win 7 is placing the files. Sometimes it's scheduled as to time and place for auto backups. You can delete older ones, and get some space back.

If it's the recovery partition provided on typical brand-name systems like HP, Toshiba etc, then the contents of the drive are fixed and it is only ever used if it's necessary to restore the system to its original state if the Operating System gets corrupted. Free space is not of any concern on this type of recovery partition. But if the system keeps nagging you about low free space on the drive you could try excluding it from scheduled defrag, system restore and indexing, see if that quiets it.
