My laptop recently started making intermittent bleeping noises (not anything like the default sounds a computer normally makes). I initially thought it was something to do with SpyBot as the first time i noticed it was when I was doing a scan, but I've uninstalled that and it still keeps happening. There is no pattern. Sometimes its 2 or 3 times in a row with a few seconds break in between and other time it could be a minute or a few minutes in between. I have notice that sometimes the "working in background" pointer shows when I hear the bleep. Can anyone help? I ran a HiJack This scan but have no clue what's right and what's wrong in it. Can anyone help - thanks in advance.

EDIT: Removed HJT log, no indication of malware thus far, seems hardware/overheating issue ~ Hamluis.

Download and install coretemp and give me the temperature results on the CPU. Also, what type of laptop is it?

coretemp doesn't work on single core cpu ,so make sure you have at least a core duo

it works with some single core CPUs caper, but your correct, most will not, I was assuming op was using a multi core CPU, thanks for the heads up. hard to really say without knowing what kind of hardware were dealing with.
