i have a Dell E310, running XP pro SP3. Last night while i was downloading some things, my Pc froze. I tried to re-boot it, and never got father than the blinking curser at the top left.

Ive run Kaspersky rescue disk cause i thought it might have been a virus or something that hit my PC. found 2 bugs, but after removing and rebooting, nothing has changed.

Using a linux live CD, I was able to see all my files.

I cant get into safe mode
I cant get into the Dell restore partition.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you

FWIW: Black Screen (fixmbr) - http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;314503

Note the warning about doing this on OEM systems. I have seen posters with Dell systems who have successfully used the fixmbr command, in spite of the warning.
