So I installed Fallout: New Vegas two days ago. Played the first day without problems. On the second day, the game crashed. I could see the taskbar at the bottom of the screen; the resolution had gone down to minimum, and the colors on the icons were a bit messed up. I hit Control-Alt-Delete; the game window was still there. I tried to end the program, and after about a minute, the screen went black, and I needed to reboot to see anything. I figured it was just a GPU overheat, with all the weird graphical stuff it did. I let the computer cool off before booting up again.
I played New Vegas again afterward without problem; I had turned the fans up to high and had my case open. I quit and surf the net for about 20 minutes, and then I try to log off. A few seconds after I log off, I get the black screen again. I reboot and log on and get a "System has recovered from a serious error message". Forgot the write it down for you guys though.
I don't think this is a graphics card failure; mine is only 4 months old. The weird thing is the second black screen; leftover nastiness from the first one? I'll give you the error message if I get it again.
Thanks

Go to your event viewer the error will be recorded there with some number/letter strings that look a lot like BSOD codes which will tell us what is causing the crash. Many of these types of crashes are of the BAD POOL CALLER type. Most of the time these are caused by driver errors.
