Internal Speakers....

Hello to all...

One of my friend has a Acer Aspire 4810tz notebook.

Anyways I guess his girlfriend "accidentally" spilled water on the computer. :inlove:

I got the computer to work fine EXCEPT..
the left speaker! So I took it apart and still does not work after I put it 2gether. :flowers:

Does anybody know of a online seller that sells internal laptop speakers??

I goggled it, and went to amazon and I had no luck, :thumbsup:

People don't seem to understand that underneath that keyboard is a computer with a live circuit board. My ex-wife once tossed a bottle of water at me, it missed and hit my IBM Thinkpad, pouring water all over it. <sigh>

He is lucky that his laptop still works. The speakers are generally connected around the same area though. Water on a speaker is negligible.

On the back side of the speaker may be some information. Such as the ohms, maybe the watts. If lucky, a part number.
I do`t think there are specially designed speakers for lap tops. Probably generic. It is more the diameter and depth of the speaker to ensure proper fit.
You may be able to find a speaker by matching the above mentioned info.

Have you been able to prove that it is the speaker itself at fault? It could be, but it could also be the electronic circuit that drives the speaker which is faulty. Someone who has a suitable meter could easily test the speaker for you.

Thanks for all the reply's

I was able to determine that it is a bad speaker because: :flowers:

1)Only the left speaker works
2)If I plug a jack it works great with external speakers.
(The sound card is ok)
3.The connectors look ok.

I will try to see if it has some model # or something I can reference it to when purchasing the speakers.

I just could not find where to go online..

While that was a good procedure to follow for trouble shooting, depending on the routing of the circuitry on the mobo, it does not really show that the speaker is at fault.

That's true. It confirms that at least part of that channel's audio circuitry is working, and the fault is after the socket. That can include the speaker, but could also cover a switch inside the socket, PCB tracks & connections, or an audio output IC if the socket is a line level output.

To test the working ability of the speaker, run speaker wire from a headunit, like a home theater surround sound system, turn the bass all the down, if it has another level for mids, turn that down all the way also, just have highs at normal level, so you dont blow the speaker.

Connect + to + and - to - and see if it plays, its fairly simple to figure that out. red is usally + and black is usually -

The internal speaker looks in good condition.

I will tested even more and put it back together to see what happens.

YEA

Its defenetly the right speaker.

I assembled it back together and the right speaker does not work.

The sound card works great in my external speakers.

Maybe I should cut the wire going to the right and connect it to a jack then connect it to my i-pod or something??

Does anyone know were to get internal speakers for laptops??

If you can provide the info requested about the speaker we may be able to track down some options for you. If you have a Radio Shack in your area you may be able to order one through them.

Direct d\l pdf On page 20.
The manual shows the speakers as a pair with pre-wired harness. The far right column should be the part #.

I could not find these speakers to save my life!! :trumpet:

I even talked to acer and they send me somewhere else and even the referrals did not have it. :inlove:

Maybe someone should start a business selling internal laptop speakers... :thumbsup:

They are out there some where. If you want to keep looking, can toy measure the outside dimension. Do this by measuring across the center of the speaker. Also, is it a single or dual cone. Meaning is there only a large paper type cone with a dome in the center or is there a large cone with a smaller cone with a smaller dome in the center of it.

The speaker we find may not be an exact match, may not even solve the problem. But for some reason you have me curious now.

Maybe poke around Here too.
