My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.

Can you please advise me on next steps? If there seems to be no solution with the information we have discussed thus far, I am planning to do the following:
1) Plug in a (borrowed) RAM stick to bring the total to 1GB
2) If that doesn't help, then repair/reinstall Windows XP
Thanks,

You would need to reboot the computer when it's been on a while, you have been using it with some apps that stress it like skype? and it's relatively warm in the room(late afternoon?)

That sounds like an excellent idea
Investigating the drivers is a good idea also.

I'll post the BIOS temps tomorrow. Any thoughts on causes other than temperature? Can we rule out/explore other causes? Could reinstalling Windows help at all?

Sorry I've been away for a while. Tried re-installing Windows, but the computer kept freezing during the installation process. Finally, had to get a technician in. These are the two things that were done:
1) IDE Cable replaced. This didn't entirely solve the freezing problem.
2) Processor heat sink replaced. The computer is now running smoothly.
Thanks to everyone who pitched in with their advice. I've learned quite a bit.
Cheers.
PS. How do I close this topic or will a moderator do this?
