BleepingComputer.com: Windows XP Home slow to boot up

It seems like Windows XP Home desk top takes forever to load. Why and how can it be fixed?

Try THIS . It has to be saved to your desktop in order to use it.
Hope this is what your looking for.
1.Download TFC to your desktop, or other location.

2.Save any unsaved work. TFC will close all open application windows.

3.Double-click TFC.exe to run the program.

4.If prompted, click "Yes" to reboot.
Save your work. TFC will automatically close any open programs, let it run uninterrupted. It shouldn't take longer take a couple of minutes, and may only take a few seconds. Only if needed will you be prompted to reboot


Next try malwarebytes

1.Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.

2.At the end, confirm a check mark is placed next to the following:


•Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

•Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware



3.Then click Finish.

4.If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.

5.Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.

6.When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.

7.Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.

Next run a defrag,a good one found HERE

Next download and run ccleaner ccleaner
Open the program select tools then select startup and disable all programs except your antivirus.Anything else you can click on to use the only thing you really nee starting up is your anti virus.Hope this info helps out and if I were you I would defintly install some more ram It is simple See Image Here And also would like to mention that ccleaner has a registry cleaner option I would just stay away from that part of the program. Although ccleaner is a usefull tool, registry cleaners are no good unless you know what you are deleting.

1. Start > Run > type in MSCONFIG > Select STARTUP

2. Use this and Google to verify the programs listed.

3. Uncheck the ones you do not need during the start up.

4. Save and reboot.

You should notice some difference.
