I don't mean this as an insult but Visual and C languages are out-of-date. That is, they are not used in the field by many companies.

Does that include the Visual Studio (VB.net and C#.net) used by the Microsoft .net system, and the C languages used exclusively for Apple App development?

Apple is an exception, but I mainly meant C++(the older versions)
Use Malwarebytes, SuperAntispyware, ESET online scan, then repeat.

Obviously if you restrict it to the older versions it'll be out of date. If you talked about programming in Java 3 it would be out of date too.

A bad thing about C and Visual Basic or .net is that they cannot function on different platforms like Java can.

Java was actually invented by a person who didn't like C.

But C is easier to program with if you are just starting out
Use Malwarebytes, SuperAntispyware, ESET online scan, then repeat.

Actually the .net system is very much similar to Java in design, in that the language compiles to bytecode and is then run by the framework. If you have the framework (.net for Windows or mono for Linux) you can often run it. It isn't as established yet, so there's less of a guarantee that people will be able to run it.

On the other hand it's worth bearing in mind that this advantage can be a crippling limitation in some cases. For example, how do you program the JRE? You can't write that in Java, because you'd need the JRE to run it. Other things, such as drivers, Operating Systems, etc are generally written in C because something like Java just doesn't cut it. Then you'll get people who'll stand by Python because it's simply easier (even given mastery of both languages) to write than Java or anything like that.
Point is, there isn't a single simply best language.

Most Universities teach Java though, if that's worth anything.

I don't believe Perl is used much now.
Use Malwarebytes, SuperAntispyware, ESET online scan, then repeat.

Instead of Java and C on computers, now there are used in app development for Apple© and Google Android (java).

This shows that the market is dominated by these two languages.

It would be hard to push either of them out of the market.
Use Malwarebytes, SuperAntispyware, ESET online scan, then repeat.

Whereas you won't use C a terrible amount on web programming. You could use Java, but you'll be more likely use something like PHP. It all varies based on what you actually need to do.
