Hi folks,

Just joined, name's Martin and I'm hoping to get the benefit of all your experience and knowledge.
I live in England, work in Welwyn Garden City, Herts - at least until the redundency offer letter hits the mat. . .

I rely on my laptop for keeping in touch with the outside world, but lately it's proved to be a BLEEPING Computer.

There's this really annoying start-up error message:  Can't start ACCRDSUB.EXE because dll "ackpbsc.dll" is missing - so I guess I'm hoping someone can send me this bleeping file to try to sort the problem. :flowers:

Welcome to Bleeping Computer, to Hertfordshire from London

The file you are referencing is from a program called ActivClient from ActivIdentity. Are you aware of this program? If so, reinstalling it will solve the problem. However, it looks like a workstation utility so you will probably need to speak to your work admin.

Thanks m0le,

HP support have told me about ActivClient ActiveIdentity and that the missing dll belongs to it, but I'm no closer to eleminating the problem.

I don't know whether this application was pre-installed on my laptop or whether it's been inadvertently installed by me subsequently. Either way, this isn't a problem I can take to my IT guys at work - as my laptop is personally owned.

HP seemed to think that ActivIdentity could be uninstalled in Control Panel, but it's not listed.
My understanding is tha the error message is caused by a registry entry that starts the program. Running RegCure didn't help at all.

How about if I move the accrdsub.exe file from it's current location to another folder - one that's not referenced by the registry - wouldn't that do the trick? I ask this before trying it out in case I 'begger' something up due to my inexperience.

No, don't play around with the registry. Moving the file won't remove the message because the dll is trying to load from a registry entry. If the file isn't there it spits out the message regardless of where you move the other file.

If it becomes a problem post in the operating system forum for your PC.
