When you go back to that Word 2007 computer.
There should still be a copy of the original on that machine from when you last saved it and then copied it to your flash drive.
If possible e-mail that copy to yourself from that machine, if it has an e-mail client.
Also burn it to a disc or try another flash drive.
Thumb drives can act funny if not properly ejected.
An SD card is much more stable if you have one.
