I have Windows XP, and the Notepad built in to my XP has become corrupted. Does anyone know of a free easy-to-use Notepad I could download? Thank you. murrar

Hi Murrar, I don't know exactly where the problem would be, stating that Notepad has been corrupted - maybe you can elaborate on that?
As for alternatives, why not use Wordpad? If you use Windows XP, then click Start > All Programmes > Accessories. Wordpad will appear in the drop down menu.
Or for a full office suite, why not install Open Office. This can be downloaded HERE.

If you were happy with Notepad in the first place, you could just replace the file notepad.exe in C:\Windows\System32.
By searching, you should find copies of the file in several places on your computer (I found 5);
e.g. C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 (notepad.exe, 68KB, 14.4.2008),
or you can take a copy off your original disks.

I should point out that if Notepad is corrupt or damaged, that may be an indication of more serious damage to the operating system.
That being said, Notepad++ is an amazing program.

Yes, including presence of malware.
