Hi all,

lately, I have this bizzar problem where if Internet Explorer (IE8) is not open, internet shortcuts on my desktop or in the quick launch bar don't work. A dialog box opens asking for the program to open them with. I went through the routine of selecting IE from the list, and checking the box that reads 'always use this program for this file type', and still next time I try, same thing again.

However, if IE8 is already running, for example at the home page or any other site, and I then click on a desktop shortcut or quick launch button, the shortcut opens a new tab with the correct web site on it.

any ideas?

Thanks Broni,

I have done that a few times, but it's the same thing. If IE is not open the shortcut does not work.
If IE is open aready, it works and opens on a new tab.
