My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.

Removing internet explorer will only free up probably less then 600 megs.
Download and run this: Temp File Cleaner it will scan all your temp folders and remove any and all temp files. It is perfectly safe to use.

You can't remove IE from your computer. It's not allowed.

IE is a basic part of XP.
When you install any version of XP, IE is automatically installed.
If you have upgraded from the version installed, you can go back to the native version...but you cannot remove it totally without some serious hacking of system files...which is probably self-defeating behavior.
If SP3 is installed, IE 7 is the native version.
