Google today unveiled a new search feature that they state will make searching even faster and easier. This new feature is called Google Instant and automatically displays relevant search results as you type search terms into the search box.

When you search on Google with Google Instant enabled, search results will appear below the search field as you type. Google will also display predictions as to what it thinks you are searching for in gray. If one of those predictions is the right search, you can select it to immediately get the final search results you are looking for.

You can disable and enable this feature by clicking on the Settings link on the Google search page and then selecting Search settings. From within the search settings screen you will see a checkbox that allows you to disable and enable Google Instant.

While playing with the new feature I found that there can sometimes be small delays, or freezes, as you type and Google pulls up the proper search results. How has your experience been?

Google Instant is rolling out over several days to users signed in to a Google Account. Check back soon if you are signed in and do not see it yet.

Funny thing is, I find it actually slows me down. I like typing in a few letters of my search just to see what will come up, and then I find something interesting, and then I forget what I was supposed to search for. It's a pretty nifty tool though, I rather like it.

Yes because we all paid for out Google accounts. O_o;

I only noticed it because on all my "backup" user accounts I am logged into gmail, so I see the instant searches. I'm glad its only when youre logged in because I'm usually not and this would irritate me. But it seems nifty and it works smoothly (minus a little lag, but its not as bad as other stuff.)

Thank you very very much Grinler!!! I hated that. I don't have it any more. I also turned it off in I.E.8.

The darn thing is back on. Signed in or out. I went to Google forum and there are so many people complaining about this I can't count them. Is there a way to go to the old version?

Turned if off right away.
Not to mention, that it set up itself as default type of search without even asking.

Haven't tried it actually. NoScript blocks it nicely. I dislike autosearch/autocomplete junk anyway.

Thanks for the heads up Grinler, before I seen this post I had already encountered it and thought I had been hi-jacked by a google re-direct virus. :thumbsup: LOL

I posted a topic in the chat forums before I seen this thread.

I guess I will personally give it a chance before I turn it off.

Bruce.
Please take notice. Oreo and I will not be available until June of 2012.
Thank you for understanding my absence, it is job and college related, so all is good. If I do not answer your PMs this is the reason why. See you all soon!

Bruce.
