How to fix Laptop CD-Rom Drive I have a Dell Inspiron 1750

How to fix CD-Rom I think it was probably how I was carrying my laptop, I'm not to sure, but when I click the eject button on the keyboard it makes noise like tick, tick, tick, and then it won't come out, but sometimes little half way and then I pull it out, and push it back in is this from the way I carried it? I use an external CD-Rom drive though but I have wondered why it got like that?
