I have a Microsoft Wireless Multimedia Keyboard 1.1 and Microsoft Standard Wireless Optical Mouse (bundle package). OS is XP Home on a Sony PCG-FRV35 laptop. My periphs are connected via a Targus #PAEPR090 mobile port replicator (similar to a docking station) and a four port hub all are USB. For some reason the right button mouse has stopped working. It was setup to cut, copy, paste, ect. but doesn't anymore. Left and scroll buttons seem to function properly. Have checked and rechecked settings, reinstalled sftwr and drvrs, and did an update resulting in no change. If I connect a wired USB mouse either direct, through the hub or port replicator all three buttons function properly. I'm suspecting the mouse is crippled and needs to be replaced. If so will I have to replace the kybd also since they both work off the same transmitter/receiver? Only changes I recall making are screen saver but have not tried restore point. Suggestions to resolve this issue would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks,

bensurchn

Try the mouse on another computer. Then, you'll know, if it's mouse, or something else.

If I may intervein here a bit.

If you do what Broni has suggested and the mouse button does the same thing, I would say there may be a problem with the momentary switch located under the right mouse button.

Does your right mouse button still move up and down like the left one does?

If not, you may have to open the mouse and see why it is not moving freely.

Bruce.
Please take notice. Oreo and I will not be available until June of 2012.
Thank you for understanding my absence, it is job and college related, so all is good. If I do not answer your PMs this is the reason why. See you all soon!

Hey guys,

Thanks for your responses. I haven't connected to another machine yet but have opened mouse. I'm one of those people that just has to take it apart if it isn't working. I also follow the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" theory as closely as possible. Anyway, right micro switch seems to be working, at least it clicks and isn't sticking. Can't tell whether it's making contact though. One thing I forgot to mention is batteries are good too. If I use an ohm meter for to check switch, should it be removed form the cktbd? Will try other machine first though.

Thanks

bensurchn
