87 octane (reg. unleaded) is still over $2 per gallon here. 2 days ago I paid $2.25 per gallon!

Gushing oil profits and politics

That this is an election year for all House members and a third of the Senate and that gas prices are once again rising pretty much ensures that Exxon Mobil’s eye-popping profit report will re-ignite the political debate over energy industry profits stoked last summer and fall.
That’s when, as you’ll recall, gas prices soared to $3 a gallon and higher, with the oil companies blaming hurricane damage to oil-producing facilities in and around the Gulf of Mexico for the spike.
Congress held a hearing in November at which numerous lawmakers accused oil executives of gouging consumers. The executives, unsurprisingly, pled innocent.
Many lawmakers were unimpressed however and made vague threats about doing things the oil industry might not like.

On the lighter side of things, there is a brand new gas station in my nieghborhood,
that gives a price cut if you pay in cash.
