BleepingComputer.com: 12v rail question

I have a Corsair 650w PSU which I'm just installing in a new rig. It's a while since I've built a computer so I'm a bit rusty.

What I'm assuming to be the 12v rail connector ( the PSU lead which is not modular alongside the main mobo connector ) has two components of four connections. The mobo, a Gigabyte 770TA-UD3 socket AM3 quad-core board, has an eight pin 12v rail receptacle . Now, one block of four pins on the PSU lead will fit one four-pin socket unit on the mobo receptacle but the other half of it won't. You know, the ' fool-proof ' shaping won't allow it. I'm guessing that all will be well with just one of the PSU lead four-pin connectors attached to the mobo. Am I correct ?

No, it describes the socket on page 22 but doesn't make things clear. If you look at the diagram of the ATX_12V_2x4 socket on that page- my PSU lead ( half of it ) will connect to pins 3,4,7 and 8. That's GND, GND,+12v, +12v. Is that adequate ?
My other half of the PSU connector consists of four curved pin shapes, which of course does not fit the mobo socket.

However, my question is- will my connection run the quad core Phenom II OK as it is ? I'm all assembled and waiting to power up.

Thanks for the online manual, incidentally, that makes it easier to describe my problem.
