Let me know if this is your laptop, all I can find is 4000 series.

If this is it, then I will research the manuals associated with it.

Here is a .pdf version of your owners manual.

http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/manuals/...00_Eng_0623.pdf

If your travel mate is not starting up or powering on, I would suspect the power adapter as being the first suspect.

You may have a broken wire at the plug that goes into the power jack on the laptop, or where the wire comes from the adapter housing.

This happens from repeated incorrect method of pulling the plug out of the laptop by the wire and not the power plug housing.

The only correct method of testing this is by checking for power output at the power adapter's laptop plug with a VOM meter set to test DC voltage.

There should be a voltage reading on this plug if it is working properly.

You may also have a problem with the travel mate's power jack, it may have had an instance where an incorrect method was used to remove the power plug, thus causing damage to the power jacks connection to the circuit board it is soldered to.

If you witness any looseness on this power jack when wiggling the DC power plug in the power jack, you will now know, you have this problem.

This would mean you would have to have the connection repaired by a repair shop that specializes in laptop repairs.
