I have an HP Pavillon Notebook with a Vista OS. This has wireless capability, however our primary internet connection is via coaxial cable (IP: Time Warner Cable).
Somehow I lost my internet connection. As I can not get on-line with HP for assistance, I called the Time Warner's technical support team for assistance...after receiving alot of run around, finally someone on the Level 3 technical team identified that all the TCIP Drivers have been de-installed; in fact all the internet connection drivers including wireless had been deinstalled. As I could find no s/w drivers disc for Vista, there was nothing they could do and I was given the toll-free # for HP's CS.
(JFYI: (HP sent me this computer at no cost in order to replace the computer I had sent them for repair and had somehow been misplaced/lost. When they offered this option to me I was told it would have all the latest technology including the Vista operating system and all the s/w applications I had on my lost computer---it would all be loaded and ready for use...and my recollection is that it did come with everything loaded--ready to go...but with only set-up instructions...no o/s disc or the upgraded s/w discs...)
Upon making the call to HP, I was advised by the CSR that I would need to sign up for technical support ($139/year) prior to being eligible for technical telephone support regarding my issue.
Prior to paying for this service, I am seeking advise on potential alternative remedies for restoring my Internet access drivers. Any suggestions (thoughts / input/ assistance of any type) on how to restore these drivers will be appreciated! Thank you kindly.
