Hello,
Several months ago I tried to print a few pages from my PC (Dell desktop w/ XP pro) and very soon after my print dialogue box popped up showing "add printer" another dialogue informed me that before I could print or attempt page set-up that I must first install a printer. I did so, and it printed. Now every time that I attempt to perform a print job, which is not that often, I have to reload the print hardware from the disc. It hasn't always been this way. I purchased this HP 1500 series printer and for a year or so it has been wonderful until this point. I'm sure that it's just a setting or something but I really need somebody to set me... and my Dell/HP..... in the right direction. Thanks in advance!

Maybe I should re-word this or something...

Printer no longer prints unless I reload the printer software every time that I reboot the computer.

Have you tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them?

Some times they become corrupted, for who only knows why.

Thanks. The printer is an HP LaserJet P1005. When this occurs I'm not shown to have any printers installed at all by the OS. If there is indeed a corrupt driver then Windows updates or error checks are not recognizing that or addressing it. Is that normal?

This printer will do either USB, ethernet or wireless
How do you have it connected?
In the beginning there was the command line.

I have seen this issue a couple of times and occasionally for some reason the print spooler can hang up. Have you tried resetting the print spooler. If not: Start >> Run >> services.msc >> find Print Spooler >> Right click and select reset. See if that helps you out at all.

Hey look, buddy, I'm an Engineer. That means I solve problems. Not problems like 'what is beauty?', because that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of philosophy. I solve practical problems.
