I am having an issue with limited or no connectivity with any way i have tried to connect to my network. I have Xp pro sp3, up until 3 days ago everything was working. as far i can tell its not an issue with my router of my network, i have 2 laptops connected wirelessly, and an xbox360 cabled to it, and those are working. But my Xp desktop which is cabled can not connect, i have tried the 2 giganet ports built-in to my mobo, 3 different cables, all ports on the router, even install a wireless pci card and still the same problem. the drivers for all of the ports, and wireless card are up to date, i have even disabled my avg firewall to no avail.
with each of the different combinations, i have even tried to just ping the router, and i get destination unreachable for each. only the wireless connection even picked up the router, but would not connect even with the correct information.
i am at a loss at what to do next, or where to look.

The only thing I see is that it isn't seeing the router which you already knew. Have you tried to do a ping 127.0.0.1?

yes i have tried pinging that one, and the same result. i was looking aroung and found something about IPv6, so i disabled it. no more limited/no connectivity, but still refuses to connect or obtain a vaild IP.

Is your DHCP service started? Go to your run bar and type services and see.

well tried to load services, but it would not display. so i don't know if the dhcp is running or not.

If you cannot ping 127.0.0.1 there is a problem with the adapter itself since that is the loopback address for any NIC. While I understand you have updated the driver the first thing i would do is uninstall the driver and the adapter using device manager. Then restart and re-install.
Second possiblity is the ip stack has been corrupted some how. Try running this command
netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
Let me know how it goes

well the second thing worked, almost instantly i was reconnected.
as for uninstalling the drivers, and adapter with the device manager, i have does that before at least 6 different times during this incident.
thank you very much, now to see how long this lasts.
