I have read several places online that claim to have a guide to install Microsoft Office 2007 onto Ubuntu, but most of them are all for different versions of either Ubuntu or Wine. I need Microsoft Office 2007 for some of my college classes this semester on my laptop and I have tried all of the guides with no success. If anybody knows anything I don't know or how to get it working that would be very helpful, thanks in advance.

Ubuntu comes with OpenOffice.org, which is a nice alternative to MS Office. Is there a specific app that you need that MS Office has and OpenOffice does not (e.g. OneNote)?

There is no problem installing MS Office 2007 under Wine in Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx). However, some parts of it will not work as Ubuntu does not have those components which Windows uses. For example, Access 2007 requires some Windows specific components. Just for fun, I have tested Word 2007 under Ubuntu 10.04 and Wine 1.2.
