Another cause for system freeze-ups might be contributed to the PSU's ability to power up the video card with stability.

What is the output specs listed on your PSU?

The PSU may not be satisfying the demand made by the Video card.

Now as far as the cooling fan spinning faster, I would say its trying to do its job of keeping the video processor cool.

If the fan is making any unusual noises and this video card is new, I would wonder if the cooling fan has a defect of some sort.

Also, some cooling fans may be functioning properly, where the computer owner sometimes feels the normal sound the fan produces is louder than what they expect.

Since I can not hear how loud this fan is, I can not make a determination as if I would feel this sound is normal, or if there is a mechanical defect.

Please take notice. Oreo and I will not be available until June of 2012.
Thank you for understanding my absence, it is job and college related, so all is good. If I do not answer your PMs this is the reason why. See you all soon!

The system requirements for that board are as follows.

650 Watt or greater power supply one 75W 6-pin and one 150W 8-pin PCI Express power connectors recommended.

Edited to correct my poor grammar.

Thanks for posting the link above dc3!

The power demand from this video card is quite high.

That's way I am concerned that the PSU is not capable of meeting the demand of this video card.

It is a nice card though, but the price of it is shocking to say the least. :flowers:

Well these are my specs:

Intel Core i7 960 3.2Ghz LGA1366 CPU

Gigabyte X58A-UD3R LGA1366 DDR3 Motherboard

Seasonic X-650 Gold 80Plus Gold Power Supply

Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 65bit OEM

G.Skill-Trident 6GB Kit (2Gx3) DDR3 2000 RAM

Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 5970

I had a lot of people tell me the psu could handle it but I could be wrong? Could it be the graphics card as well as the memory =S

That PSU should be sufficient.

Is there some type of test I can run to see what the problem is?
