I've a Packard bell PC running Vista home premium. I access the internet via Orange and a Speedtouch 330 modem. I've had no problems BUT my friends tell me that the Speedtouch 330 is now discontinued. I've had difficulty finding stuff about this.
So:
(1) Is the Speedtouch 330 now obsolete ?
(2) If so what's the recommended replacement for wired attachment ?
Thanks in advance

Hello BazzaS and welcome to BleepingComputer!
Until recently, my ISP supported this modem for their customers. I got a custom installation CD from them a few years ago when I contracted them.
This modem is indeed quite old and has a few major disadvantages:
This modem can be handy however on older computers that do not have a Network Card.
If the modem is working fine for you, there is no need to replace it. Personally, I had many issues with it; it frequently locked up and required me to either disconnect/reconnect the device or even reboot the computer.
My ISP now provided me with a Huawei SmartAx MT882 router/DSL modem. I have to say, its a major improvement, no more need to identify each time the connection is reestablished.

- No drivers are available on the Thomson website.
- This modem supports only max. 2 mbps internet speed.
- Not compatible with newer versions of Windows.
