Microsoft has a new service that there is not much discussion on as of yet. This new service, called Windows Live, is a personal homepage/portal that you can add feeds, content, and gadgets to in order to make it feel more like home.

Windows live appears to be Microsoft's answer to the various Yahoo personal content pages and Google's personalized home page. Windows Live will include a new email interface (hotmail replacement?), Gadgets, and RSS Feeds.

The gadgets look interesting and may be Microsoft's attempt to compete with Yahoo's purchase of Konfabulator. Gadgets are small programs created via DHTML and javascript whose functionality can range from small games to todo lists.

Another section of the site, Windows Live Ideas, shows upcoming projects that will added to Live. This looks similar to Google Labs.

The product looks interesting, but being still in beta, is rough around the edges. Should be interesting to see how this product develops as the search engine wars continue.
