printer doesnt work wirelessly

I have a macbook and an epson 610 printer. the problem is that the printer is on the network and getting an excellent signal but wont print (or prints sporatically). I have downloaded the drivers from apple and it still doesnt work. bonjour finds it and then it disappears and the printer is still getting a signal. can someone help me because I'm about to smash this printer with a sledgehammer.
