(This problem is only related to combofix. It's about XP.) When I run combofix, it reports that eTrust AV is running on the computer. It is not. The only AV on the machine is Avast. eTrust USED to be on the machine.

Here are some of the things I've noted:

eTrust is not showing as a running process.
There is no CA or eTrust folder in Program Files.
Running ccleaner does not clear the problem.
None of the "VET" dlls is in the Windows System folder.
There is no uninstall file for eTrust on the hard drive.
eTrust does not appear anywhere in the registry.
eTrust does not show up in msconfig.

So my question is, where is combofix detecting eTrust?

I love combofix!

Combofix should not be used to scan systems it is a very powerful tool that can render machines into expensive paperweights. You must only use combofix when instructed to do so under strict supervision from a Malware Removal Team member.

My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.
