Hello all, I started having trouble with my desktop a couple weeks ago with constant attacks. I found this site and some good info and got it cleaned up pretty good with Ccleaner rkill and malwarebytes.
However this morning it won't even start up. It brings up the background and that's it no icons and it won't do ANYTHING ctr/alt/del nothing, can't get to the startup menu or anything. Only have access to the internet to post this because of a spare laptop.
I'm running Windows XP home on a emachine wallyworld special...(wife picked it out no help from me)... figured worst case start all over and reinstall Windows, GUESS WHAT, no CDs came with it everything was already installed. Well she does have the emachines disc just says user guide, setup poster acrobat reader, don't see that being much help.
HELP ME PLEASE, I can't afford to get a new computer right now which is how I always fixed things before when they got this bad.

I had an eMachines system like that (from Wally), no discs.
The restore capability was the only repair alternative provided...use of that is covered in the owner's manual they provided.
Pretty strange that you actually can boot to a desktop...I would try to borrow someone's MS XP CD, which reflects the same version...and try some of the repair tools that would be available then.

Hello and welcome to Bleepingcomputer.
I am going to ask you for a model number, anything that you can help me identify your computer by, would be most helpful to me helping you.
In the meantime, I am going to point you in the right direction for finding support your computer.
Your computer is an eMachines brand computer, so I am pointing you to their support web site.
http://www.emachines.com/ This is where we begin your journey to find the proper support that will get you up and running again.
Please post that information I asked for, it might be listed somewhere on the computer case (Just to save you the trouble, your Windows license key sticker is not the info I need)
Bruce.
