I have a Sony VAIO laptop that came loaded with a heap of programs I didn't ask for.

Trouble is, I don't know which might be necessary or useful and which I can do without. I suspect there'll be many of the latter.

Can anyone plse tell me how I can get to know the role of each, so I can make a decision.

Use Google...look up the specifics for what a given program does...ask yourself if you need such program installed.

If no...go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall.
