bad bios update

well eariler on i went to update my bios. well it turns out there is 2 bios for the exact same motherboard i have and i turns out i picked the wrong one. well how can i recover it if it is possible with the bios i have. if i hit the power button,the cpu fan spins from 2-4 seconds and then turns itself off. here is what is written on my bios.

either should have work if they are for the exact same motherboard ,did you get hem from the motherboard manufacturers web site ,can you enter the bios and set it to defaults ,or is it that only the fan spins ,and board doesn't even post anything on the screen

If your bios chip is not soldered on to the board, you can get a new pre-flashed chip here

A lot of motherboards come with a recovery feature built into the BIOS ROM.

Could you please post your motherboard make and model number?

Thanks to your pics you posted in that thread I can see the BIOS version is 02.61 dated 2008 from AMI BIOS.

I have to ask if you saved your original BIOS to a disk, most BIOS flash utilities recommend saving the original BIOS to the disk, did you save yours before proceeding with the flash?

This is the number for this motherboard GF7050VT-M (V1.0) is this not what you see printed in white lettering on the motherboard near the RAM slots?

Packard Bell uses the number MCP73VT-PM

I know its confusing when companies buy computer hardware and plaster the product with their own name and model number, its such with Nvidia video cards as well, there's many variations of the same card sold under other names such as PNY etc.

Can you please tell me what the BIOS bin file name was that you did the flash with?

Very important to know what bin file to flash with before doing a flash, in some cases a flash will not proceed if the wrong BIOS bin file is used, but that isn't always the case, sad to say.

I seen your pics above I'll check them out.

I also see where you said you saved your original BIOS, which may save you, if the instructions I am about to give you work.

Be back shortly.

Edit: I see your BIOS chip is soldered to the motherboard, this means if the BIOS recovery fails, you have to ship this whole motherboard out. :thumbsup:
