So, Secunia has just told me that the versions of Microsoft Outlook 2002, Word 2002, and Excel 2002 I have on my computer (Windows XP Home SP3) are unsecure and need to be updated. Secunia provides direct download links to Microsoft for these updates, but there are some hassles (I know! Hassles? With Microsoft?!).

First, it opens IE -- it apparently won't work with Firefox. Second, all the update links lead to a page that signs me up for a Microsoft Update service that gives Microsoft even greater access to my PC.

Unless it's absolutely necessary, I just have no desire to provide more access to my computer to a bunch of strangers.

Does anyone know if there's a way to update these programs without signing up for a service? Even today, not all computers are hooked up to the internet -- I figure there must be a way to just get the updated files.

Thanks!

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum.

Try this link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en

That's the service pack... so it updates the whole shi-bang.

If this wasn't what you were talking about, just reply and I'll keep looking.

Hope that helped!

Troop4, they posted that they have SP3 which is the latest service pack.

Kapn Easy, you can go to MS and download the desired update manually.

What I posted was the service pack for Office XP aka 2000, which should have all the updates.
