BleepingComputer.com: Help with running Nontra, a game

Hello. First, this is the game (pretty small) that I need help running:

http://skitch.dwmh.net/files/nontra.html <-- Please FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTION that you need to get that XNA framework download from Microsoft. That will assure you guys that the game will run on your computer. So get that download and get the game.

So, anyways, I try to run this game and it crashes upon clicking on the icon. I'm given that usual "*whatever* has encountered a problem and needs to close.... send/don't send"

I was wondering if, it's allowed first of all, and if you guys could work with error report logs. I have a log of the error report and can supply it, if it's ok/safe/allowed...

Please, I REALLY need help with this....

Many people have said that the app runs just fine for them, but it crashes upon clicking on the icon for me and gives an error report.

Are these dealing with the same situation? If so, they can be merged...posting the same issue in two separate forums here at BC is not recommended and can lead to confusion.

Quite frankly...I don't see anything when I click that link but a website. Where is the content of the error message?

Take a screen shot of the error when it appears...post it as an attachment to your next post, please.

That's the link to the download.

At the bottom of that page, there's an animating orange arrow pointing at the download. That's the error report. It's too big to attach and a simple screenshot will not suffice in this case.

Regardless of what component it is of your problem. Choose one forum to contain all relevant and pertinent factors of the single issue. Please do not break down the components and post them in the relevant forums you feel they belong to.

By keeping all the data together you will avoid confusion and potential conflicting replies from members who are unaware they don't have all the data thats spread all over several forums.

That's all fine and dandy, there sir. But, I still need help with the issue at hand.

I know that I have vision problems...but all I see when I click your link...is a report that relates to your game, not a Windows Error Report. Windows Error Report data is summarized in XP's Event Viewer.

I suggest that you take a look in Event Viewer...and see if there are any corresponding errors there that might be related to your game. If so, double-click on that line item and post the corresponding detail.

The intelligent approach would be to attempt to attempt to run your game...get the error...then go to Event Viewer and look for errors which have just been reported.

Reviewing what I can on your error...it looks like a coding error to me...which is something that needs to be resolved by the developer of the program. Have you tried the website for this game?

I highly doubt it's a coding error. The creator himself told me that before releasing it, his team and him tested it on several machines. He then tested it on several machines when I asked. It worked fine.

I'll check event viewer with those steps.

What I would do...uninstall NET Framework, using Add/Remove Programs (not the security updates, just NET Framework 2.0).

Then...go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en and download/install that version.

I have tried your suggestion and it does not work...

It seems the game requires a .NET Framework v2.0.50727. This just happens to be .NET Framework 2.0

Yet that .NET Framework is what's causing this trouble!
