BleepingComputer.com: After Replacing PSU, Computer won't turn OFF

Recently I fried my Power Supply by what I assume was underpowering my computer (was playing a game, smelled burning, and then kaput).
So upon ordering and installing a new one, my computer will no longer turn off when I tell it to.
When I hit Start > Shut Down, it goes through the normal shutdown procedure, then right as the power turns off, it instantly turns on again and takes me to my login screen.
The only way I can turn it off is to manually depress the power button on my PC as it begins to boot up again. The same happens when the computer is put into Hibernate.

Any ideas?
I went from a 650W to a XION PowerReal 1000W.

I believe I know what your problem is, but being that I like to be 100% accurate with my advice or suggestions, I need to ask you to please provide the make and model number of your computer.

I built my computer from scratch so I don't have a model number but here are the specs:

Processor: AMD Phenom II X2 550 (3.1 GHz)
GFX Card: nVidia GeForce GTS250
MoBo: MSI NF750-G55
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 32 Bit.
RAM: 2 GB

I am going to research the possibility that your motherboard has a jumper that needs moving to support ATX power supplies.

On page 3-15 of your motherboard owners manual I see the following text.

Power Button Function
This feature sets the function of the power button. Settings are:
[Power Off] The power button functions as normal power off button.
[Suspend] When you press the power button, the computer enters suspend/
sleep mode, but if the button is pressed for more than four seconds,
the computer is turned off.
Restore On AC Power Loss
This item specifies whether your system will reboot after a power failure or interrupt
occurs. Settings are:
[Off] Always leaves the computer in the power off state.
[On] Always leaves the computer in the power on state.
[Last State] Restore the system to the status before power failure or interrupt
occurred.
Wake Up Event Setup
Press <Enter> and the following sub-menu appears.
Wake Up Event By
Setting to [BIOS] activates the following fields, and use the following fields to set the
wake up events. Setting to [OS], the wake up events will be defined by OS.
Resume From S3 By USB Device
The item allows the activity of the USB device to wake up the system from S3 (Suspend
to RAM) sleep state.
Resume By PCI Device (PME#)
When set to [Enabled], the feature allows your system to be awakened from the
power saving modes through any event on PME (Power Management Event).
Resume By PCI-E Device
When set to [Enabled], the feature allows your system to be awakened from the
power saving modes through any event on PCIE device.
Resume By RTC Alarm
The field is used to enable or disable the feature of booting up the system on a
scheduled time/date.

You may want to check your BIOS set up utility by booting the computer and pressing the DELETE key and you should be looking for power managment.

That is what the text is I posted above, make sure you do not have any features enabled in the BIOS that will cause the system to reboot and attempt to reload windows.

By the way, I do not know if you have a 20 or 24 pin power connecter but make sure it is plugged into the ATX power socket on the motherboard in the correct pins.

Your motherboard also has a POWER1 switch in the corner of the motherbaord, it is a push switch, please read the owners manual about this switch on page 2-19

Button
The motherboard provides the following button for you to set the computer’s function.
This section will explain how to change your motherboard’s function through the use of
button.
Power Button: POWER1
This power button is used to turn-on or turn-off the system. Press the button to turn-on
or turn-off the system.

Also make sure you have the ATX 4-pin Power Connector: JPWR2 plugged in, this power connector is used to provide power to the CPU.

Thanks for the info, I messed around in BIOS and everything seemed normal.
This problem has only occurred recently upon replacing the PSU. The computer turned off fine before with the previous (and now dead) PSU.
All the connections are in place correctly and everything boots up fine. But again when I go to shut down the computer immediately after shutting off, the power comes back on again.

when it turn on...do you press any key or moving your mouse???

I have not heard of this problem before.

Its as if the computer was shut down with the restart option in Windows.

I have your PSU's make and model number I want to do some research to see if there is a possible production problem associated with this PSU.

I have not seen any issues posted regarding any hardware defects or recalls.

Are you absolutely sure you are choosing shut down the computer and not restart?

No I am not pressing any keys nor am I moving the mouse.
I am positive I am hitting shut down. Like I said before the same thing happens when I put the computer into hibernate as well.

and please check your computer setting...

My settings are all correct, the button is set to Shut Down.
