I dont know if people are aware of this but I will mention that there is a bug in combofix that makes IE shortcuts unusable after combofix does its thing. The only way to make them work again is this:

Try this out if this is what you are seeing:

Open Registry Editor and navigate to:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\InternetShortcut
Backup this key and save as REG file.
Now delete 'InternetShortcut' key.
Open Internet Explorer, Tools, Internet Options, Programs
Choose "Reset Web Settings"
The URL association should be rebuilt now.

Can someone contact Subs and tell him if it is an unknown issue?

Edit: Moved topic from XP to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

My brother is an IT Specialist for his company and told me about this bug being exposed at his company. Also, if you google enough online you will see other people with unusable/disabled IE shortcuts not knowing what is causing it which then leads people to the "fix" like what was posted above.
He then told me to post the problem online so that Subs can correct it so that others are not affected like they are now, if he didn't correct the issue already.

sUBs has not experienced any problems with his computers but said it could likely be an issue with older versions of IE (i.e. IE6). If so, newer versions of CF should fix it.

What version of Internet Explorer are your using? If you're not sure, please refer to:
Be aware that older versions of Internet Explorer are vulnerable due to flawed code that can be exploited. Therefore, continued use is a security risk and the browser should be upgraded.
In most cases, those having problems with IE Favorites shortcuts can Reset Internet Explorer[/b] or use Microsoft's Fix it to automatically reset registry keys and the browser back to the way it was when initially installed.

It is affirmative they are still using IE6 but with the fix it patch implemented from microsoft, the reason is they have servers through out north and south america and europe supposedly that utilize the old software as needed.
