I tried it a second time and... IT WORKED! THANK YOU SO MUCH BRUCE!!!! You just helped me save 450-500 dollars. Thanks you so much. It didn't work the first time because I pressed F2 late. Next time I come on this site, I'll be on my laptop. Thanks for all the help Bruce.

One more question: if I were to burn a vista cd now, would I be able to restore my computer back to vista? Would there be any way to restore my computer back to vista?

First of all you are very welcomed for any help or assistance I give you here.

As to the last line in your quote, I am not sure what you mean about burning a Vista CD, Windows Vista is a licensed piece of software with an EULA agreement with Microsoft.

If you have a license key for Vista, an OEM copy of it possibly on a hidden partition, or an OEM OS repair disk then you are in business. (Note: some systems have the license key stuck to the computer case with a Windows Genuine sticker.

I am not sure if a Vista repair disk is possible without it violating any piracy or EULA agreement laws.

Where would you be getting this copy from? Then I can tell you if it is possible.

I want to add, if your OS is OEM, you may have a repair disk with your OS in it, if not Acer should be able to provide you with one if yours is lost.

Bruce.

Please take notice. Oreo and I will not be available until June of 2012.
Thank you for understanding my absence, it is job and college related, so all is good. If I do not answer your PMs this is the reason why. See you all soon!

hi all,,,, nice one Bruce,,,,
you have a licence for vista on the bottom of the laptop, there should be a little sticker on the bottom of the lappy with Microsoft on it, and a key,,, this is for the oem addition in the pc,,, if you can get your hands on a full vista disc (does not matter which addition as they carry all vista additions and its the key which tells it which one to load) then using the disc to boot from and the product key on the bottom of the pc this will install vista, this will only load generic drivers for the pc and you will have to find any pc maker related drivers with either win update or on the makers site for that model of laptop,,,,,,,,
this is how i clean install for people who do not have any disc's, some times you have to go re register it again but this is fine as its yours and the key is legit, only takes a phone call to the MS line.
good luck

If it's illegal nevermind. I just know nothing about Linux and I don't know what version of Linux I have or anything. Do you know what version of Linux I should choose for every download?
