motherboard help

i have a gigabyte GA-8IPE10000-G REV4.0 motherboard that i believe has died.... what happened is my agp videocard died so it sat for about a year... i just got a new videocard for it and now it turns on and beeps three times... and there is no signal to the monitor... there is power to the card... it worked great before... can anyone help? other info... it has 3 gigs ram... 3 seperate harddrives... runs the intel 865pe chipset with a 478 socket. now just cause i know that... it took me about 30 mins to find out the info i just gave.. no expert here...

p.s..... its one long beep followed by two short beeps..... beeeeeeeeeep beepbeep

Try taking out your ram and reseating it. Does it have onboard graphics, and if so have you tried the onboard connection?

no onboard... reseating ram did not help

Did u plug the video card into a PCI or PCIe slot? is the new video card PCIe 2.0/2.1

edit>also, how much power does the new card require and how much power your PSU is putting out.

i should have highlighted.... AGP and it has plenty of power... last time i had it worked on they said the power supply was actually more than i needed..

Here from the owners manual is your beep codes and their meanings below.

AMI BIOS Beep Codes
*Computer gives 1 short beep when system boots successfully.
*Except for beep code 8, these codes are always fatal.
1 beep Refresh failure
2 beeps Parity error
3 beeps Base 64K memory failure
4 beeps Timer not operational
5 beeps Processor error
6 beeps 8042 - gate A20 failure
7 beeps Processor exception interrupt error
8 beeps Display memory read/write failure
9 beeps ROM checksum error
10 beeps CMOS shutdown register read/write error
11 beeps Cache memory bad

AWARD BIOS Beep Codes
1 short: System boots successfully
2 short: CMOS setting error
1 long 1 short: DRAM or M/B error
1 long 2 short: Monitor or display card error (Note: this appears to be your code here)
1 long 3 short: Keyboard error
1 long 9 short: BIOS ROM error
Continuous long beeps: DRAM error
Continuous short beeps: Power error

and what the brand of your cards???
ati radeon is only a chipset brand and it refers only to vga type/model...

and as Bruce say...according to the beep its your VGA has fail...
and please try to unplug the cards and plug it again...
or try it at another computer...to make sure its your VGA cards has fail not anything else...

ok i shall try to find another computer that uses agp and test my new card... if its not that then i have to get a new motherboard.... can anyone tell me where to find a motherboard that is compatable with my new card and my current processor on the mother board i have (to keep from having to get a new processor since it is fine)
