I keep getting new critical update availale message everyday from microsoft update site. When I view available critical update it says Cumulative Security Update for Outlook Express 6 Service Pack 1 (KB837009)

I must have downloaded that KB837009 file atleast 10 times by now. Why do I keep getting prompted to d/l and install same patch over and over and over, almost on a daily basis ?

Go to windows update page. Run the update search. Select custom. There is a tab ( the name escapes me ) that will allow you to hide selected updates. Once it is added to that category you should not have anymore problems.

I was having the same problem last October and having just checked my installation history it looks like I removed Outlook Express then re-installed. The update went on and I don't recall seeing it since. If you try this don't forget to save your messages and address book somewhere safe JIC.
