Sims 3 installation BSOD

Not sure if this belongs here, but I tried to install the Sims 3 on one of the laptops my dad is making, however when the game is almost done installing I get a blue screen with the following at the bottom:

Stop 0x000000f4 (0x00000003, 0x89C93508, 0x89c9367c, 0x805D299C)

The game is being installed from a store-bought disc, and my dad says it may or may not have something to do with the memory, and he's gonna have a look. I'm posting on here though just in case he doesn't find a solution.

EDIT: I should also mention the game is fully capable of running the game (according to System Requirements Lab anyways).

This should help.

I would also suggest checking the RAM (memory) and CMOS battery.
