A few months ago, I went on a website that was filled with trojans and worms and really infected my computer. It affected all my computer games excepted for one. And now I have a anti virus software called VIPRE and it cosed a lot of money. So now the viruses are out and my computer is find excepted for one thing. When I try to play one of my once was infected games, The Sims 3, it said it had a script error on my launch screen. I clicked keep running scripts and I clicked play, it then said this "Windows cannot access the specified device, path , or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item." I think it is either the anti virus software or that the disk has a lot of scratches. HELP ME!

This is my first question! I hope I can trust you guys! :flowers:

Err...have you tried reinstalling the game?

(Complete Uninstall -> Install from disc)

If not, please do try that and let us know if it works.

Have you tried disabling the Anti-Virus program?

Ahh.... It costed some money that a guy that installed it had to pay for, so if I do that I won't feel right doing that.

Hello again,

Disabling it only means turning it off for some time, in this case, till you complete the reinstallation of the game.

Once you are done with the reinstallation, you can turn it back on.

Simple as that.

If you could tell us which Anti-Virus program you use, we would be happy to help you with the process of disabling it momentarily.

Maybe block it with your Firewall/Windows Defender(If you have it) -> Uninstall -> Unblock it.

Try right clicking on the Vipre icon in the system tray; look around for "disable" and click on that box (you should be able later to click on the icon and reverse it). I looked through the user help forum for more, but could not find your particular question answered.
Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one should be silent.

^ Correct.

1. Head to the system tray (notifications area)
2. Look for the VIPRE AV icon
3. Point at the icon, right-click, select the 'Disable Active Protection' option

Enable it after you are done with the SIMS installation.
