Hey guys, I'm stumped and hope you can help me. A few weeks ago I had a problem where only certain websites would load. I've since fixed that issue (flushing dns fixed it). However, before I tried that I tried to uninstall IE8. I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it. Now ever since I've reinstalled it the IE8 icon looks like the icon for a file with no file association. I've attached a pic of it for you to look at. IE works fine, it just bugs me that the icon is weird. Any tips?

How about delete that shortcut and create a new one?

OR right click on the icon. Choose Properties/Change Icon.

Choose which one you want to use, then click OK.

Thanks for the tips. I've deleted the shortcut and put a new one that and that does nothing. When you look in the C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer folder, the actual ieexplorer.exe has the same weird icon.

I've also tried doing the right click and change icon thing and that doesn't work either. Any other tips? Or does anyone know now to do a IE8 repair install? I tried going to Microsoft's website to download IE8 again but it won't let me because it says I'm already using IE8

Uninstall IE8. It'll revert itself to IE7. Then, you can download and install IE8 again.
What Windows version is it?

If the target EXE shows same weird icon, then we can assume that it is corrupt. If the target file is not iexplore.exe, then it is may be a case of malware infection. So first confirm that target file is not iexplore.exe. If it is iexplore.exe, then you have to download IE 8 and re-install it.
