Start/Run...type chkdsk /r and hit Enter. Type Y in new box and hit Enter. Reboot, the command will execute and boot into XP when complete.

My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.

That's actually what I already use, heh.
I have discovered that it is caused in some way through my wireless connection. I have a desktop with a Linksys WUSB Adapter. If I disable the connection the skipping stops. Is there any way to fix this other than switching to wired internet (which I would seriously like to do but cannot figure out a discreet way to run the cable from the router downstairs to my computer on the upper floor).

Take a picture of the upper floor and bottom floor where the router is and I can see what my imagination can come up with. Also put in the post with the pictures if the room is directly above your router.

Gasp at my art expertise.
I tried my best. The thing is, I'll be getting a new laptop within 2-3 weeks which I assume will have a better wireless card and not have the same problem, so I'm wary to do any intensive work.

I would have been replied sooner, but my work hours are terrible.
